About the Program

After reading an article in the local paper about the Street Soccer Fort Worth program, Matt Valentine saw a similar need in his local community and decided to form a program in Dallas. At the sam etime, Dr. Gary Lefkoff of LifeNet was contacting Street Soccer USA about helping support a program in the same area. LifeNet is a leading nonprofit provider of comprehensive services for the homeless and mentally ill in North Texas providing people with mental health services, chemical dependency assistance, permenent supportive housing, and supportive employment. As fate would have it, Matt connected with Dr. Lefkoff and Brandon Long of LifeNet and began and process of forming a team. 

Street Soccer Dallas atteneded its first Street Soccer USA Cup in the summer of 2011. Of the 7 players that made up this inaugural team, ALL of them are off the street and in permanent housing. 4 of the 7 players have acquired full time employment with 2 working towards completion of thier college degrees.

Since partnering with LifeNet, Street Soccer Dallas has also teamed up with Sole Role to provide a place for training. The team and its supporters have an open pickup game every Monday night. Practices are held every Friday afternoon.
