About the Program

Street Soccer USA San Francisco is coached by David E. Rodriguez, a former semi-pro soccer player, and Antoine Lagarde, 2009 SSUSA National Team member. Last year, San Francisco's first year participating in the SSUSA Cup, the team took home the Leonsis Family Trophy as Champions of the tournament.

This year’s team will again be organized by the Glide Youthbuild Program. The Glide YouthBuild Program is a leadership and training program for 17-24 year-old youth from San Francisco’s poorest and most violent neighborhoods. The program includes onsite construction skills training, personal development, leadership skills workshops, GED preparation and the ability to earn academic credit towards a high school diploma.

The street soccer team has become another way to connect to the youths participating in Glide’s program.

Antoine Lagarde, pictured below, was the captain of the championship team and went on to represent Street Soccer USA in Milan, Italy at the Homeless World Cup 2009.  Antoine is now teaching at the YouthBuild program.

SSUSA's National Program Director, Rob Cann is located in San Francisco. To get involved with our programs in the Bay Area email him at rob@streetsoccerusa.org
