Street Soccer San Francisco is coached by David E. Rodriguez, a former semi-pro soccer player himself. Last year, San Francisco's first participating in the tournament, the team placed sixth and hopes to improve upon that finish this year. 

This years team is organized by the Glide Youthbuild Program. The Glide YouthBuild Program is a leadership and training program for 17-24 year-old youth from San Francisco’s poorest and most violent neighborhoods. The program includes onsite construction skills training, personal development and leadership skills workshops, GED preparation and the ability to earn academic credit towards a high school diploma. 

The street soccer team has become another way to connect to the youths participating in Glide’s program. 

“I just feel good about myself,” says San Francisco player Alan Alfaro. “I feel healthy when I’m out there.
