SSUSA NY Red Hook Backpack Giveaway is place of major announcement of funding for Street Soccer USA in New York.

Saturday, September 2 – District 38 Council Member and long-time Street Soccer USA advocate along with the Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito announced $300,000 in funding for fiscal year 2017-2018 to Street Soccer USA. The funding will allow Street Soccer USA to operate programs that will reach over 2000 low-income and immigrant youth in the New York region this year.
After the announcement, over 150 members in the SSUSA Red Hook Community Club Program, their parents and members of various community based organizations (listed above) came together to celebrate the end of the SSUSA New York’s Summer Programming and prepare the kids for the start of the school year with a Backpack Giveaway!
Together, SSUSA staff, volunteers and our community based partner organizations had the opportunity to spread awareness of local academic and social resources. Additionally, the parents in attendance were able to proactively sign up their kids for health screenings and special homework assistance needs. It was all smiles as the kids left the event with their brand new soccer gear and a new found enthusiasm to begin the school year!
