In Mexico: Team USA Kickin’ It At The Homeless World Cup.
The Homeless World Cup returns to Mexico for a second time since 2012. More than 450 players will represent 42 countries. The following SSUSA players will proudly represent the United States in el Zocalo.
Madalyn Cirstea (Sacramento): Maddy is an 18 year old from Sacramento. She was introduced to Street Soccer through her family shortly after her father passed away. She has had a rough couple of years losing her father, but has been very committed to Street Soccer USA and the Lady Salamanders. This year she has accomplished goals of getting her license, graduating high school, finding part time work and planning to enroll in college next semester.
Tatiana Payton (Sacramento): Tatiana was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. She has been a part of our Street Soccer Program since she was 10 and living in a shelter with her family. Tati has a twin brother and three other siblings, all of them have been there for each other as her family has had to move around due to homelessness. Tati is now a senior in high school, she is a Street Soccer USA Youth coach, and planning to go to college next year
Natasha Mariam (Charlotte): Natasha is a Junior in high school and has ambitions to play soccer in college. She had 5 brothers and no sisters. She from the Congo and has been in the US for 9 years. When she is not playing soccer she is creating videos and taking pictures. Her favorite thing about soccer is the feeling she gets while playing. She has a great sense of Humor and loves to keep things lite.
Zowdie Ali (Charlotte): Zowdie graduated high school in 2018 and is currently working. She has and older brother and three younger siblings whom she helps take care of. She is fearless on the pitch and has phenomenal ball control. She enjoys laughing and hanging out with her friends.
Sujita Adhikari (Charlotte): Sujita is a senior in High school and and hopes to go to the military next year. She is very hard working individual and is great at multitasking. She has been part of multiple programs at 658 and is a very caring person. She loves to try new things and has a lot of energy. She is a great teammate to have on the field and is always willing to help out the team in any way.
Justine Grimmond (San Francisco): Justine grew up in Clayton, in the East Bay of California. Justine played soccer her whole life as a center midfielder. She is now a stalwart coach at more than five programs for Street Soccer’s After-school programs this past year. After joining Team Change one and a half years ago, Justine now captains the women’s team in San Francisco. Justine hopes to continue playing and coaching soccer long into the future
MEN’S ROSTER
Chuong Isaac Tang (St. Louis): Chuong Isaac Tang has been part of the St. Louis Roadies FC for the past 18 months. Chuong was raised in Kenya. His family applied for refugee status in America after his father died. Since moving to St. Louis, Chuong has succesfully completed his GED and is now enrolled in a local community college. Over the past few months, Chuong has emerged as a leader on the St. Louis Roadies encouraging others in the community to give street soccer a chance.
Marco Chairez (Portland): Marco is originally from Port Townsend, WA and joined Street Soccer shortly after arriving in Portland. As a team leader, Marco brings energy, tenacious defense and smart passing out of the back to his team. Marco’s favorite team is Mexico and favorite player is Ronaldo.
Moustapha M’Baye (Seattle): Moustapha was born in Dakar, Senegal, where he grew up playing soccer, something he loves to do. At the age of 16 he came to the United States. Moustapha’s family, especially his mother, mean a lot to him. They have been motivators for his education and helping him to adjust to living in the USA. Additionally, he loves to help people and has enjoyed doing so through coaching Young soccer players and being a peer mediator through school.
Moustapha Bangoura (San Fransisco): Moustapha is a first generation immigrant in America. He is from Guinea and is constantly working towards building a life of success and fulfillment. He is very committed to his academics and his Street Soccer USA Squad—the Tenderloin Street Soccer Club. He is a versatile player, and leads by example.
Will Tiemeyer (Sacramento): Will has grown up and lived near Sacramento for the majority of his life. He found himself homeless and living in his car as a result of untreated mental illness and addiction. Will sought the help he needed, came across SSUSA early in his recovery at an event, and joined the team shortly after. Will has been a part of the Street Soccer USA men’s team since 2016 but has been playing soccer since he was a kid. He is now going to Community College and is working as a case manager at at a non-profit organization called Westcare.
Omer Boush (Charlotte): Omer is one of the team leaders for Street Soccer Charlotte. He is from Sudan and has lived in the US for 7 years. He lives with his Mom and 5 siblings and helps support the family. When he isn’t at work or playing soccer he likes playing video games with his friends. He is: a very versatile player who never loses his cool. He leads by example and is a great person to be around
