SSUSA Staff of the Month – King Saah

SSUSA Philly Gains New Leadership!

King Saah joined SSUSA this February, taking over the leadership of Street Soccer USA Philadelphia.
King was born in Liberia and raised in Côte d’Ivoire. While living in Côte d’Ivoire, he began his soccer career and had the opportunity to work for a Grassroots Soccer organization, opening his eyes to his passion for the sport.  King moved to West Philadelphia in 1999 and brought his passion for the sport with him. Soccer was more than just a sport to King, it was a tool that exposed him to many opportunities and taught him important life lessons.
King heard about Street Soccer USA 5 years ago and right away felt a connection to the community. He jumped right in and helped with the training sessions, specifically workimg with the homeless popoualton in Philidelphia.  While there wasnt opprtuntiy for a full time role in Philly at the moment, King was inspired by his experincie and kept connected with Street Soccer USA as he was getting his Masters from Temple University in Globalization and Development Communication.
As a recent graduate, King was enthused when this opportunity in Philadelphia opened up with  SSUSA.

He reflects, “My first impressions are how dedicated and motivated the people who work at SSUSA are. Everyone I have met is open to helping and providing support when needed. Soccer has always been an integral part of my life. It helped me travel, and meet a lot of people as well as get an education. So when I the opportunity opened up in Philly, it was a no-brainer for me. Street Soccer USA combines my passion for soccer and helping people”.

In his first month with the organization, King has had the opportunity to meet a wide range of individuals in various cities across the country, truly taking in the positive work SSUSA is doing. Furthermore he has focused energies in connecting with individuals in Philadelphia, seeing a new side of the city.  A side that is ready to take charge and are invested in the youth and the future of the city.
