STREET SOCCER USA PARTICIPANTS TO PARTICIPATE
IN THE FOOTBALL3 TOURNAMENT AT THE
FIFA FOUNDATION FESTIVAL 2018 IN MOSCOW
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Moscow, Russia (June 29, 2018) – On Friday, June 29th and Saturday, June 30th six Street Soccer USA program participants from New York, Chicago, and San Francisco will be traveling to Moscow for the football3 Tournament at the Fifa Foundation Festival along with two Street Soccer USA staff members.
The tournament will bring together international mixed teams and demonstrate the power of soccer. Street Soccer USA: New York will be represented at the Festival by Fernand Grisales, Street Soccer USA: New York Program Manager, and David Santos, Street Soccer USA: New York participant.
“I’ve made a lot of connections with people I’ve met and being able to use those connections to benefit myself and the kids I work with.,” said Santos when asked why being why being a part about Street Soccer USA important to him.
Santos, 18 years-old, is from our Sunset Park program and has become a mentor for our U16/U18 participants. As a mentor he has been coaching this group since September and instilling values in the participants. When asked what his goal is after returning from Russia, Santos said, “[To] take everything I’ve learned, seen, and heard, and bring it back to the kids I coach and hopefully become better as a coach for them and myself.”
When discussing why being apart of Street Soccer USA is important, Grisales stated “I love the work that Street Soccer USA is doing. It’s great that we are able to give our players a better opportunity. Grislaes will be attending the tournament as a young leader. As a young leader he will help players decide what values and rules will be used in the games and allow them to demonstrate fair play on and off the field.
